Online Card Class "Watercolor", Day 1

Thanks to a very kind friend I am taking the Online Card Class on Watercolor that started yesterday. I've often seen homework from these classes on other blogs but this is the first time I am taking an Online Card Class and I am very excited. They are really well organized I have to say.

So yesterday morning I watched the three videos and then got to work. The first technique did not work out so well for me so I don't have a card to show. I don't know if I didn't use enough water or my cheap watercolor paper was too flimsy or both.

I had better luck with the technique of the second video but ran out of time to finish a card. I did that this morning and here it is:

Instead of Distress inks like Laura used I wanted to see if it would work with watercolors and it did! I embossed the little sentiment from Hero Arts in white and die cut a new-to-me die from Memory Box (NBUS - click on the link if you want to know what that means and who coined it) three time and glued them together for a bit of dimension.

This is for
keep it simple - Watercolor

I am off to watch todays videos...

Thanks for visiting,
Susanne

Glad to hear you have only one husband, sometimes one is too many. Nice job on this card, I too had difficulty with the first card.

Mir gefällt deine Karte sehr gut! Finde vorallem die Farbwahl für den Hintergrund super und die Verläufe.
Von den NBUS habe ich auch noch soviel :-(
der Tag hat einfach zu wenig Stunden!!

Your water-colour card looks lovely, Susanne. Pretty colours, and the white die-cut and sentiment add such an impact. A++ on your first assignment!! I've taken a few Online Card Classes: enjoyable and so educational! You'll enjoy this one immensely! I would have signed up, but I just can't wrap my head (or budget *grin*) around water-colouring. Then again, I do have distress markers and some water-colour paper....Perhaps a 'down the road' mission! In any event, I'll enjoy learning 'vicariously' through you and your wonderful creations! Hugs~c

Wowzers - this is stunning! I love these colours and am super jealous - everyone seems to be on this watercolour course - I want to play!! ;)

From experience, if you're using a lot of water (which will give you this lovely wash look) then you do need quite a heavy watercolour paper. If you're using a lighter paper then I would suggest using less water and maybe using the brush to spread the colour a bit more rather than letting the water do the work - might be worth a go?!

I can't wait to see what else comes from your course - if this is anything to go by then we've got some serious treats to look forward to ;)
