Male Birthday with Newsprint

I really love cards featuring newsprint and just had to make one for The Male Room "Newsprint" Challenge!

Time to bring out the Hero Arts Newsprint Skyline that I haven't used in a while. Background is made with watercolor crayons and a baby wipe. The plane is colored with a silver marker.

Stamps: Hero Arts (sentiment, skyline, newsprint background), Inkadinkado (airplane from "Life in the city")
Other: Watercolor crayons (Caran d'Ache)

*ETA: This card received "Honourable Mention" at the Male Room!

The colors, the skyline, and the newsprint all make me very happy! And I can think of several family members/friends that I could send this to!

Let me know if you have any questions. I so appreciate your visit and your comments!

Susanne

Birthday Card with Frog

It has been quiet again on my blog because we were away camping!

But now I am back with a birthday card for Melba, one of the Cardologists whose birthday we celebrated last Thursday with a yummy Oreo Ice Cream Cake and much laughter! Melba loves frogs so I stamped and watercolored a NBUS stamp. I really thought he needed googly eyes and searched everywhere but it seems I don't have any. Is that even possible? Since I didn't have time to go out and buy some I ended up using small clear dew drops for the eyes. And I even used PP!

Graphic Friend Card

Remember this card? I didn't use all the tinted Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel and couldn't just wash it down the drain! So I quickly grabbed another stencil and sheet of card stock. This weekend I made this card from it.

Guest Designer for Inkspirational

So glad you stopped by for a visit!

I am very excited and honored to be the Guest Designer for the new challenge at Inkspirational! The cue word for the next two weeks is "Melt"!

My card was inspired by those artworks on Pinterest that I have always admired where they glue crayons on canvases and then heat them until they melt down the canvas.

I used another one of those cool stamps from "Designs by Ryn" and connected the areas between the drops with a fine marker.
Then I colored them using Faber-Castell Polychromos.
Added some Glossy Accents to the drops.
Mounted the panel on a card with a strip of patterned paper from Studio G and foam mounted a heat embossed sentiment from Altenew.

What do you think when you hear the word "melt"? For more inspiration check out what the fabulous Inkspirational Design Team came up with! Hope to see you in the gallery!

Susanne

Two beachy cards

(This is my second post today)

I love tropical beaches (haven't been to one in too long) and so I just had to make something for all the challenges which a beach theme! Look at the gorgeous inspiration pictures further down - don't they make you dream?

I wanted to use that framed beach scene from Stampendous. I stamped it in black and then embossed it in white to see which one I would like better. Then I watercolored both. They look very different but I like them both.

50th Birthday in pink and silver

Are you thinking "ANOTHER 50th birthday card"? I know! I keep asking myself how it is possible that so many of my childhood friends are turning 50 if I am barely 22? Weird, huh?

Anyway, I recently found this Memory Box die on sale and since it was in German I just had to buy it! It says something like "Best wishes".

Stamps: Inkadinkado (numbers)
Dies: Memory Box (sentiment), Poppystamps (banners)
Other: matte silver cardstock (Marco's)

The background has been in my stash for a while. It was from an alcolhol-ink-background-making-spree. It also has some silver in it. I am glad it has finally found its way on a card!

Challenges:

Happy Little Stampers "August Sketch"

(I guess banners don't really fly, they flap more in the wind, so maybe this is without topping...?)

Thank you for your visit!
Hope you are having a fabulous day!

Quite a change from my more clean and graphic cards of late...
This was for one of the 7Cardologists whose birthday we celebrated last Thursday. She loves purple. Sadly she is about to move to another state! We will miss her a lot!

That was it for me! My bed is calling!
Thanks for stopping by!

Graphic 50th Birthday Card

How come it is already August???? Who is sitting on the fast forward button? Would this person please get up so that time doesn't fly by so fast!

Recently I noticed that my favorite sentiment stamp set had disappeared! I hate loosing things! But especially this set! It is small but I like the font and think it's very versatile! Of course it's discontinued and impossible to find anymore online. I looked and I looked and was very afraid that it had fallen into the trash can a while ago since it is not very big!
Last weekend I found it hiding underneath some ink pads! I am so happy! And will be extra careful with it from now on! In case you want to know, the Happy Birthday on today's card is from that set. It's by Hero Arts and is called "Classic Sentiments".

To make the card, I mixed some Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel with Marvy Ink pads and applied it over a stencil. I don't know why I don't use my stencils more often - it's so fun to play with them! Then I white embossed some stripes (an unmounted stamp I had for a long time and had never used) on grey, die cut the numbers, die cut them again out of foam and glued everything together. Some washi tape on a black strip of paper and there it is!

In the close up you can see the shine and texture of the gel better!

Stamp: Hero Arts (sentiment), DRS Design (stripes on the numbers)
Dies: Memory Box (numbers)
Other: TCW (stencil), Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel
