Tissue Paper Circles

And as promised in my last post, here is the other card I made using this glittery tissue paper. It matches the sketch at the current Inkspirational almost perfectly but I have to admit that I made the card before I even saw the sketch. How is that for a coincidence?

Stamps: STAMPlorations (sentiment)
Dies: Nestabilities (circles)

And some more photos from our trip. We went to Nuremberg for a day. Beautiful city. Hadn't been there in decades.

Playing with Embossing Paste

So, this month's theme at the CAS Mix Up Challenge is Embossing Paste/Gel which prompted me to have a play with them (it's been too long anyway). My first attempt reminded me that you need heavy, sturdy paper because thinner paper will buckle. Normally I would use Bristol or Watercolor paper (my Mixed Media is too flimsy) but I wanted to use colored card stock. Anyway it buckled and when I lifted the stencil I smudged it! I saw that one strip looked good and so I cut it off and made this card!

Stamps: PTI (Happy)
Dies: STAMPloration (Birthday), PTI (pink star), SSS (heart and white star)
Other: Stencil (Memory Box), white spray (Mr. Huey's)

I used the same grey card stock for the card (because the strip didn't look good on white), splattered it which resulted in several more grey splattered panels. Isn't it funny, I get so excited when I am able to use a scrap on a card but each card that I make creates many more scraps! Anyway... I just received happy mail from STAMPlorations and really wanted to use this cool Birthday die (cut from a scrap).

CAS Mix Up June Challenge "Embossing Paste/Gel"

My choice is die cutting and/or splattering

Probably without the twist of masculine colors, although there are guys who like pink

Stay tuned if you want to see the card I made with the embossing paste panel that came out ok... Hope to post it soon!

***Happy 4th of July!***

Happy 4th of July to all my visitors who celebrate this day!

We had friends over yesterday for a nice summer meal eaten outside, followed by a bike ride to a nearby beach to watch the fireworks over the lake! So fun!

Usually we are always traveling this time of the year and I rarely get around to make a card for this holiday. This year we are home but I still left it till the last minute and only had time to make a few cards for my Thursday night friends. So I kept it fairly simple.

Stamps: STAMPloration (brush strokes), Winnie & Walter (sentiment)
Dies: mymomenta (star), Avery Elle (zig zag border)
Other: embossing folder (Darice), star gem (Recollections)

Challenges:

Joyeux Anniversaire, Anita!

Anita from mypapercraftworld is celebrating her birthday today (the 18th) and I would like to wish her a year filled with love, laughter, beauty, fun, friendship, good food and drink, health, strength, and lots of time to create!
She is one of the sweetest people in blogland and always leaves such warm and well written comments. If you are just crawling out from under a big rock and don't know her yet, please take time to visit her blog. You won't regret it because she is also a very inspiring cardmaker!

Oh, you would like to see the card I made for her? My inspiration came from that sweet card of her that we are to CASE over at STAMPloration.

Stamps: Winnie & Walter (sentiment), Lawn Fawn (heart)
Other: Embossing Folder (QuicKutz), Washi Tape

I was inspired by the colors Anita used, the dots, the W&W sentiment, and the hearts.
Inked up selected dots of the embossing folder, spritzed with water, "stamped" on Mixed Media paper, added splatters (some of them shimmer), stamped the heart, added Glossy Accents to it, stamped the sentiment (the happy is embossed), added washi tape to card, adhered panel to card.

This card wants to play at

of course! See graphic above
Check out how the DT and Anita CASEd this sweet card!
ETA: This card was a winner!

and at

Love that technique!
ETA: This card was a winner!

And since you are still here I am showing you a Valentine's card using another one of the panels (because, of course, I had to make several panels using this technique, right?).

Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Susanne

Feathery "Thinking of You" for the Muse

Hope everyone in North America is enjoying their long weekend! It's very hot and dry here, feeling more like summer than fall!

When I saw Carol's card for the Muse Challenge #131 I was immediately inspired to bring out my feathers from STAMPlorations again! Since we had company I only had a chance to make a card this afternoon, entering in the last minute! But that's nothing new, right?

Here is Carol's fabulous card

and my take on it

keepintouchcards.blogspot.com

Stamps: STAMPlorations (feathers, sentiment), Hero Arts (background strip)
Other: Caran d'Ache (watercolor crayons)

I used the same feather set as Carol, almost the same layout and the same colors!
The background was made with watercolor crayons scribbled on a piece of card stock and blended with a moist baby wipe. It's quick and easy and I like how it looks. Added a strip of background paper that I found in one of my snippet boxes (yes, I have several - don't you?) and mounted everything on a blue card.

Challenges:

(where Sarn is prefect this week and I heard there was lots of chocolate to be found...)

Wishing you a fantastic week,
Susanne
