Inlaid 60th Birthday

Quickly popping in to post this card before both challenges close...

Stamps: My Favorite Things (flower background), Avery Elle (sentiment)
Dies: Memory Box (numbers), PTI (edge)

It's hard to see that I covered the numbers with Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents after coloring them with Faber Castell Polychromos.

Two Cards, Two Techniques

Today I have two cards for you featuring two different techniques. The first one has a strip of Yupo paper (sort of like a sheet of thin plastic) and alcohol inks. In the close up you might be able to see a bit of gold there, too. It's very fascinating to watch how drops of alcohol inks react on Yupo paper. If you haven't tried it you should definitely put it on your list of techniques to try!

Stamps: My Favorite Things (sentiment)
Die: My Favorite Things (happy)

On the second card I played with watercolors on watercolor paper sprinkled with salt. The salt sucks up the color and creates an interesting pattern. I die cut the hearts and the word love from the sheet I created. The close up is supposed to show you the Wink of Stella sparkle that is so hard to capture on a photo!

Stamps: PTI (sentiment)
Dies: PTI (love), Sweet 'n' Sassy (hearts, SSS (stitched frame)

Big Lily

A while ago I was lucky enough to win a gift card to the Uniko store and I choose this awesome lily set with it. I had it shipped to my sisters house in Germany, picked it up when I was there, and finally got around to play with. This is the first card I made with it.

Stamps: Uniko (lily and sentiment), Hero Arts (foliage in the background)
Other: Faber Castell Polychromos

Stamped and colored it with colored pencils, fussy cut around the flower, gold embossed the edge of the white panel, stamped the background with different foliage stamps, stamped and die cut the sentiment, and gold embossed the edge of that panel, too.

Of course I am entering it at the current
Uniko Challenge #42 where the theme is very fittingly "Flowers"

and Virginia wants to see what we created this summer

Thanks for stopping by!

Embossed Map of the world

Another thing I love are maps. Looking at maps, decorating with maps, buying craft supplies featuring maps, etc. Maybe it has to do with my love for traveling... There are two challenges at the moment that have a map theme and have inspired me to play. Even though I have a lot of stamps featuring maps I decided to take out this NBUS embossing folder.

Stamps: Hero Arts (sentiment)
Other: Darice (embossing folder)

I dry embossed it on watercolor paper, went over the continents with an embossing marker and heat embossed them with different shades of embossing powders, then watercolored the oceans.

Virginia's Summer Blog Party

And now finally some photos of my hometown.

The town hall

The last remaining tower of the old rampart at night

Yep, my hometown has gone artsy and colorful

And another empty house used as a canvas

And one more thing: You have to know that I am never one of the first to buy something, read a book or see a new movie. Don't know why I prefer to wait and see... But here is one of the rare exceptions.

When the MISTI first came out I thought I didn't need it because I still have lots of wood mounted stamps. But then so many of you raved about it and showed techniques that one can do with it. So I slowly decided to get one. I hemmed and hawed (mainly because of the price) and hemmed and hawed some more until Tim Holtz introduced his stamping platform in January. I preordered it and finally got it a couple of weeks ago. Since I don't have the MISTI I can't really compare it. I can just tell you that I like how it works and that I am happy to finally own one of those fancy stamping positioners.

Understated Rainbow

If you have been reading my blog for a while you probably know that I love rainbow colors (amongst lots of other things...). So naturally I wanted to play in the AAA Cards CAS game #95 "Rainbow"
But what I ended up making will certainly be the most understated rainbow in the gallery! In case you don't see it - the flowers are in rainbow colors. A strip of washi tape down one side and a very CAS card is done.

Stamps: Heidi Grace (window), sentiment unknown
Other: Faber Castell Polychromos pencils

I am sorry but the pictures from my home town that I promised you in my last post will have to wait for the next one as I am short on time today... So you'll just have to come back ;)
