Inky Birthday Wishes

Hi there, crafty friends,

In the midst of assembling my Christmas cards I took a break to make this card:

I was inspired by MIM #140 where Ashley shows us different ways to use ink pads on paper. Check it out! I also used the inlaid technique which I not only love because it makes mailing so easy. After I took the pictures I debated about adding some embellishments but couldn't make a decision. Might add something when I know who will get this card. What would you add?

As I played with ink I will also send it over to the Simon Says Monday Challenge.

Ha, and the gold piece of cardstock is a snippet, so the card also gets to play at Pixie's Snippets Playground!

Enjoy your day (my oldest turns 14 today!),
Susanne

Great birthday card! LOVE the colors you chose to ink with. I really like that you put the birthday word die in the banner. The background texture really draws your eye to the colorful banner. You asked what would you add? I might add maybe some sequins or colorful pop dots around the word die but it also looks really good right now!

What a stunning card you've made! I was truly wow'd by that inlaid technique you used and have never seen it before. Really quite genius and the metallic "birthday" gives it that much more oomph! I'm also too chicken to use plain white in my pieces, but it is stunning here. You added texture so the white isn't plain at all! I love how the background makes the banner really pop. This is a beautiful card and I'm so glad you shared your talents with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog!

Hi Susanne

What a gorgeous card - must try the inlaid technique here. I linked you in fine - there are two main points to remember, always click on the title of your own snippets post for the full URL to appear at the top of your screen - and then copy and paste all of that. Mr Linky gets upset if you just copy a generic link to your blog. And, when selecting an image at the next step, go to the third option which is to choose an image/thumbnail from your blog - entering a URL option seems to be tricky-woo.

Just ask away if you hit more problems!

Hugs, Di xx

Hi Susanne - that was me who linked you in earlier on :) I could see an unsuccessful link from when you had problems but couldn't see just why.I deleted your second one just now though. All sorted out!

First of all, your inking using the MIM technique is brilliant, Susanne! It's just perfect for that banner and, especially, that size banner! Then to set it off against that particular embossing folder is nothing short of inspired, and you gave it lots of interest with the bright gold lettering! I see Design Teams in your future!!

As far as adding anything? I think I would add nothing for a perfect man card. For a young person, a paper candle on one end or the other of the banner, a big one. For a woman, a sprinkling of sequins? But I'm really a CAS lover, so less is more to me and this is spectacular as it is! IMHO. Hugs, Darnell

Wow, Susanne, this is brilliant ... love the colours with the wonderful gold inset 'Birthday' ... and all that glorious white textured space! I'd add nothing ... it's perfect as it is! Anita :)

Very pretty, Susanne. As to adding something... how about some twine or jute wrapped around the left end of the sentiment banner? Or a strip (or chevron) of B/W PP? I'm in total agreement you want to keep it mailable!
