A Mermaid and a Chef...

I know my title sounds like the beginning of a joke but it's not... Sorry.
Instead I have two cards to share with you, one featuring a mermaid the other a chef hence the title.

The mermaid card I started with my Thursday night stamping friends, also called the Cardologists, and finished at home. The stamps belong to one of my friends but I believe they are from Stampin' Up. I think this mermaid is very graceful and pretty. I glittered her tail with a shimmery gel pen and Stickles, used the latter to create a frame and added sequins. Very sparkly in real life! The background was created by sponging glossy card stock.

The Library Challenge #12 - Mermaid

The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen and illustrated by Christian Birmingham. Love this story too! Again, very sad though, definitely does not have a Disney ending

Seize the Birthday - Water

The second card I made for my German brother-in-law who is a fantastic baker and cook. When a friend gave me this stamp I though it would be perfect for him. It comes with a variety of accessories. I used the silverware to create a subtle background on the white card. The black panel is patterned paper from my stash.

Stamps: Loralie Art Stamps (chef), Create a Smile (sentiment)

Sending this to

which is celebrating it's 5th Birthday - Congratulations

Hope it is CAS enough...

Birthday cake is food, right? It might be a whole food group...

Fantastic shimmer on the mermaid scales, and I love the waving seagrass, with the scant silvery frame around the ocean scene. The chef is so cute (I'd never have had a clue as to a design with this!) and I really liked the imaginative silverware subtlety in the border. Very clever and how sweet to tailor make it for someone special. Good job on both! TFS & Hugs

Hahahaha ... birthday cake is most definitely a food group, Susanne ... this one looks scrumptious in the hands of that dapper chef! How fun to have the silverware in the background ... all ready to start eating ... yum! Your mermaid is dreamy ... gorgeous background and delicious shimmer ... you sure have steady hand with those stickles! Magical indeed! Thanks so much for bringing your party chef along to play with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)

The mermaid and the ocean background are gorgeous, Susanne! The glittery accent on the tail is just the right amount, and the sponged color blending is so beautiful. Drawing a frame with Stickles is a fantastic idea.
The second chef card is awesome and (somehow) humorous! Love the subtle silverware pattern background! Your BIL is going to love the card! Hideko xx
