Graphic 50th Birthday Card

How come it is already August???? Who is sitting on the fast forward button? Would this person please get up so that time doesn't fly by so fast!

Recently I noticed that my favorite sentiment stamp set had disappeared! I hate loosing things! But especially this set! It is small but I like the font and think it's very versatile! Of course it's discontinued and impossible to find anymore online. I looked and I looked and was very afraid that it had fallen into the trash can a while ago since it is not very big!
Last weekend I found it hiding underneath some ink pads! I am so happy! And will be extra careful with it from now on! In case you want to know, the Happy Birthday on today's card is from that set. It's by Hero Arts and is called "Classic Sentiments".

To make the card, I mixed some Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel with Marvy Ink pads and applied it over a stencil. I don't know why I don't use my stencils more often - it's so fun to play with them! Then I white embossed some stripes (an unmounted stamp I had for a long time and had never used) on grey, die cut the numbers, die cut them again out of foam and glued everything together. Some washi tape on a black strip of paper and there it is!

In the close up you can see the shine and texture of the gel better!

Stamp: Hero Arts (sentiment), DRS Design (stripes on the numbers)
Dies: Memory Box (numbers)
Other: TCW (stencil), Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel

  2. I know the feeling of losing your fab stamps and then they turn up in the weirdest places! I love how you have drawn the inspiration from our photo and thus gel through the stencil gives a fabulous texture. Thanks for joining Ink x

  4. Very cool! What an amazing card. Those spots are totally fun, and really make your "50" pop right off the card. I so hear you about losing stamps. Lost one of my "Fresh Cut Florals" once, and nearly ordered a whole new set until I found the bit under my desk...don't know why I didn't have it on the bottom of my shoe..... Anyway, Great card. You so rock. Bev

  7. Ohhh!! You should use your stencils more often. I LOVE how this card came out. It looks so cool with the texture paste. As for losing things-I can so relate. I looked for a half hour on Sunday for a die that should have been in its envelope. It was sticking to a magnet that was right behind my die cut machine but I cleaned my whole desk, thinking it was under all the junk!! Glad you found your stamp set!!

  8. So glad you found the hiding stamp. It must have been taking tips from the stuff at my house! They hide from me all the time! This is a nifty card, and I like the technique that you use. I've not tried the heavy gloss gel, and to think of mixing it with the ink pads, great idea! Will try to remember that, cause it's a fab & textured look. That number is a different look - and I like it. Our Darnell will be so proud of you for the NBUS border treatment - and it's very striking too. TFS & Hugs

  9. Pesky little things, stamps that go missing, Susanne ... so pleased you found it! What a cool card ... the texture and shine from the gel (that I hadn't heard of!) is fantastic ... and so perfect with the stylishly striped numbers! YUM! Anita :)

  10. Losing those 'precious' stamps is such a frustration! I've lost a sweet little heart shaped die and because it's part of a set, I won't be replacing it! I think it's gone forever *sob* Glad your sentiment had a happy re-discovery! Your card: fabulous! Yes to using your stencils more often, because this is a marvelous shimmery gem! The striped numbers: very classy! Love this! Thank you for joining us at Inkspirational!

  11. Yeah, not sure why you don't use them more often, because any time you do something stunning emerges! And that stripy 50 is totally cool!
