Twofer Card Challenge #9

The months continue to whizz by at top speed and here we are already almost in mid-September which means it's time for the new Twofer Card Challenge word prompt:

Very appropriate for the season and I am sure we all have several leaf stamps and dies. I chose a gingko leave from Impression Obsession that not only cuts but also embosses the veins.

Stamps: PTI (sentiment), A Stamp In The Hand (background
Dies: Impression Obsession (leaf), Nestablilities (circles)

Stamped the background in silver ink, cut the circle and the leaf from matte silver cardstock, backed it with a scrap piece made with Brushos, stamped the sentiment in black.
I prefer CAS sympathy cards, how about you?

Stamps: Stampabilities (sentiment)
Dies: Impression Obsession (leaf)

Made a background with Brushos and Watercolor. Cut out several leaves, then cut the same amount from yellow cardstock and inlaid them in the green background. Embossed the sentiment in copper on vellum. Tore the strip and attached it to panel. Mounted panel to a kraft card and used a piece of Washi tape (yay me!) which prompted me to buy four more rolls today on sale at Michaels. Sheesh!

I just love the golden yellow gingko leaves turn in the fall. Have you seen a picture of this 1,400 year old tree in a monastery in China? Isn't it spectacular? No wonder it attracts many visitors in the fall...

Did you know that gingko trees have remained unchanged for more than 200 million years which means it coexisted with dinosaurs?

*grins*

Splendid twofer, Susanne! Your sympathy card is elegant and classy ... the imagery of the gingko leaf covering the colour is really clever and I love the scripty silver in the background. I too prefer CAS sympathy cards. That's such a vibrant and bold brusho panel on your second card ... the bright yellow pops wonderfully against it ... and the coppery tones complement it brilliantly! I laughed out loud at you splashing out on more washi after using a piece on this card ... yay you! Hugs, Anita :)

That is one gorgeous and intricate leaf die! Such a profound sympathy card in silver, with the color peeking from behind. Fascinating photo of that ginkgo tree and truly reflected in your beautiful get-well card, Susanne!

Wow, I love these twofers! This ginkgo leaf you used is just so beautiful. I love these beautiful tree's too but....did not know the other facts about them! How cool! Yep, love a CAS sympathy card, minds are so cluttered when we loose a love one as it is so a CAS sympathy card is much much easier to enjoy-there's a sense of calm and your sympathy card definitely has the sense of calm to it. I love it! I also love your twofer, the colors are wonderful, the brusho background is just beautiful and that little piece of washi is perfect. Love both of these cards! Hugs, Brenda

I have to start with that photo you shared! Thank you for posting that marvelous tree, Susanne! I had no idea what a gingko tree looks like, although I love them and have a pretty stamp set from PTI. I didn't know they turned sunshine yellow (just love that wide carpet at the base!) and that they date back to the time of dinosaurs! Cool info!

Your Twofer gingko leaf designs are gorgeous and how awesome that the die cuts AND embosses! I, too, love to keep my sympathy cards CAS and I love the extra interest that light script background adds to your design! It's neat how your design allows the Brusho background to be seen behind the leaf!

Your get well card is very cheery with that bold Brusho background and sunny fall gingko leaves! And go you using Washi tape! Mike does have some beautiful tape. Have you seen the boxes of like 25 rolls? Once in a while they go on sale for really low prices. Then, like me, you'll have to empty out two of your storage drawers just for tape!! Sheesh is right! Hugs, Darnell

Beautiful cards using your gingko die, Susanne! I do prefer CAS sympathy cards. There's something soothing about them which just seems right! Your card is gorgeous. I LOVE the stamped background and will have to see if I can get that stamp! So pretty with the circle of silver and the die-cut leaf. Lovely to have the little bit of colour peeking through the die-cut.

And your second card is fantastic. Love the brushos background and your bright, inlaid leaves. The copper embossed vellum banner is so pretty and love the special touch from the washi tape. This is just perfect. And now you have four more rolls to play with. xx

That is one gorgeous leaf die--which, surprisingly, I don't have! I do have probably 100 leaf stamps & dies as I'm always drawn to them. I also have that background stamp & hardly ever use it--thanks for the reminder, Susanne! Both cards are lovely, but I'm especially drawn to the sympathy card as simple is what I like, too!

Tolle Karten, liebe Susanne. Ein Gingko-Blatt habe ich auch irgendwo in meinem Fundus, ich glaube aber als stencil. Müsste ich dringend mal nachschauen
Liebe Grüße Christine

Fantastic twofers with awesome designs, Susanne! You used the cool Ginkgo die so creatively.
I love the silver script stamped in the background and the bright colors peeking through the die-cut of the first card.
The brusho/watercolored background of the second card complements the yellow leaves so well. The heat-embossed sentiment on the vellum strip is a very nice touch too.
Thanks for sharing the great photo of Ginkgo tree!

Your sympathy card is truly lovely. I do also prefer CAS sympathy cards, and just made two for my nephews (my ex-bil, their dad passed). I really like that leaf, and the background too. I did not know about the gingko tree in China. What a gorgeous photo! As is your card. You've captured their color perfectly!! Sweet Brusho background, too. Yay for washi. Have a great Sunday. Bev

So sorry for this late comment, Susan. I wanted to say that I'm totally in love of your beautiful leaf die cut and the two gorgeous cards you made with it. I too love ginkgo leaves and the picture of the tree is absolutely stunning. I can easily imagine all the Chinese visitors taking pictures of it. They can spend hours watching and studying the nature beauty, that's why they make so beautiful paintings ! I really love your first card with the handwriting background. Very stylish and delicate. And on your second card, the ginkgo yellow leaves pop up beautifully over this amazing green watercolour background ! Thanks so much for sharing and for inspiring. I hope to have time to play along. x

2 awesomely beautiful 2fer cards. Love the silvery gingko card, and so pretty with just the slightest hint of the green background peeking out from under the silver circle treatment. Also liking the script background. Very classy. The Get well is so cheery with the bright colors and what a great background this die made for that card! Brilliant designs on both of these. TFS the picture of the stunning yellow tree. I didn't know the gingko was such an old species. That tree scene would make a spectacular screen saver! TFS
