I have the best sister in the whole world. I am truly sorry for you if you thought yours was the best... ;)
Anyway now that we cleared that up I want to show you the card I made for her birthday which happened to be last week. The inspiration for the card came to me last summer when we stayed at her house (she and her husband are also the best and most generous hosts). They have these black and white dishes with flowers for a long time. Who knows why all of the sudden last summer it occurred to me that I could turn them into a card. I wanted to take a picture of them but forgot. So I had to go by memory. Mine is not the best anymore. And remember it's six months later...
Stamps: Altenew (flowers, leaves), Create a Smile (sentiment)
Dies: My Favorite Things (chevrons)
My sister was kind enough to take a picture of one of the plates. You can see that instead of the pale yellow I should have added a deeper, more redish orange... Oh well, she liked the card and that's all that matters!

What a neat idea, Susanne! Of course she loved it--this is a gorgeous card & so super special! I think she's got a pretty great sister, too--super talented & a sweet blogging friend!
Such a pretty card Susanne. We get inspired by all kinds of beautiful things, don't we??!! I bet your sister was thrilled to see her beautiful plates inspire her birthday card. Happy belated birthday to her! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx
Katrin
Striking card Susanne, I think your memory served you well! I'll agree with you that there's noone like a sister :) Cathy x
What a wonderful card - not only is it beautiful, but because of the story behind it. I have three sisters, and agree that sisters are indeed very special beings. Those watercolored flowers look fantastic on the black rick-rack. Your colors are wonderful even though they are not exact. That's not important - the sentiment and love that are in your card make it extra gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with us at Time Out.
Those soft blooms are just gorgeous against the striking black and white, Susanne ... what a great take on your inspiration (which is also gorgeous!). Sounds as though you do have the best sister!! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
This is stunning! I think your memory worked very nicely to recreate the inspiration dishes! The yellow is so cheery with the blues, and wow, on the blast of the black & white 'rick-rack' design. This looks like it should hang in an art museum. Love the card, even though her dish is very pretty too! I'm so happy for you that you have such a sweet sister. Always wished I'd had one! TFS & Hgus
gorgeous, I love your take on the plate. Such an awesome card for your sister and glad she liked it :), thanks for joining in with CAS Watercolour
What a wonderful birthday card for your sister, Susanne! Your watercolor flowers are so pretty with the black geometric design! I love the yellow flowers! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Watercolour!
You not only have the best sister, Susanne, your sister has the best taste in artistic dishware!! I love those dishes! And considering you were working from an old memory, I think you nailed your thoughtful and personal design for her birthday!! Your no-line wc is fabulous!! Hugs, Darnell
Beautiful card (and plate)! And that is what I absolutely love about this hobby - making something personalized for the recipient. It doesn't always work that way, but when it does it makes me so happy.
Eine tolle Karte, liebe Susanne :) Und ich finde, Du hast Dich sehr gut erinnert!
Ganz liebe Grüße und vielen Dank für Deinen lieben Besuch auf meinem Blog, Christine

You do have a great memory, Susanne! You've captured the beautiful essence. I love the combination of the soft pretty flowers and the black bold chevrons - so impactful! You and your sister are very lucky to have each other. :-) Hideko xx

I'm not one to argue, Susanne BUT I think your sister has the best sister!! What a beautiful inspiration, and kind card to make!

What a good memory you have ! Even after six months, you succeeded to case beautifully your sister's dishes. I love the strong contrast with the black chevrons and the vivid coloured flowers ! Really beautiful card. Have a fabulous week ! Hugs
