Just wanted to let you know that there is still time to play at the Time Out Challenge #27 "Clean and Simple with an optional twist of black and white with a splash of one color". Click on the link to find out rules, details and the prize! I made another card using the optional twist and am quite happy how it turned out.
Stamps: PTI (squares), My Favorite Things (birthday)
Die: My favorite Things (happy)
The black "happy" is die cut from glossy paper. If the squares look wonky it's an optical illusion.
It was so much fun to be a Guest Designer at Time Out! Thanks so much, Sandie for inviting me!
Why don't you hop over to Time Out to see what the fabulous Design Team came up with and then create a CAS card to enter the Challenge! Hope to see you there!
Hugs,
Susanne

Wedding card for Retro Rubber Challenge #10
The theme at the current Retro Rubber Challenge is "Emboss It"! Or more precisely use embossing powder. A friend of mine needed a wedding card and wanted me to use the wedding colors: turquoise, silver, and lavender (see the little pearls?).
Stamps: JRL Design (flower heart), Hero Arts (sentiment)
I've had this heart of flowers for a very long time but I think it's still very pretty and delicate. Embossed it in silver on shimmery vellum. The turquoise heart in the center is cut by hand from some very cool color changing (depending on how you hold it) paper. Don't really know how to describe it...

Will be back in a few hours with another guest design post for the Time Out Challenge. Hope you come back for it!

Susanne

Happy 1st Birthday, Time Out
Just before the doors close I have a card for the Time Out Challenge #26. They are currently celebrating their first birthday with this inspiring photo:
Happy Birthday, Time Out! (... and many more!!!)
Stamps: Stampendous (flower frame), Hero Arts (sentiment)
Other: PTI (linen embossing plate), Glossy Accents, Faber-Castell Polychromos
My card is very CAS but has all the elements from the inspiration picture in it:
Frames: The image is framed and the blue layer looks like a frame.
Branch: The curved flower.
Colors: All the colors of the frames are present.
White wall: White card.
Hard to see: The vase is covered with Glossy Accents.

Hello for the "Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge #46" / Happy Little Stampers
Most of you probably have heard of and even played with the "Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge" where Taheerah posts a fabulous picture every Monday for us to get inspired by! I finally managed to play along this week even if it's just before the door closes! Don't you just love all the grays and yellows with white and a little black?
The pillow with the bird caught my eye. It reminded me of the bird punch from Stampin' Up.
Stamps: Technique Tuesday (sentiment), Picture Show (dots)
Punch: Stampin' Up (bird)
Stencil: SSS
It looked a little bland on a white card so I took the diagonal stripes stencil from SSS and sponged Barely Banana on the front.
Challeges:
Your visits and comments make my day, so thank you!
Hugs,
Susanne

Retro Rubber Challenge #9 / SSS Wednesday Challenge / The Card Concept #30
The folks at Retro Rubber Challenge #9 want us to use tags. Remember the idea behind this challenge is to use stamps that are at least one year old. So I dug out a very "vintage" tag stamp from Hero Arts and made this card:
Stamps: Beeswax (background), Hero Arts (tag)
The background stamp is from my friend L who assured me that it is quite old. I started this card last Thursday at our get together but finished it at home.
There has been an overabundance of pale lavender cards on this blog which is unusual for this bright-rainbow-color-loving girl but I rediscovered my Colorbox Chalk Inks and liked the soft look and creaminess for those stamps. I promise to post more colorful cards again soon!
Challenges:
Retro Rubber #9 "Tag, You're It"
Simon Says Wednesday "Special Lady/Girly"
The pale lavender and the bling make this card definitely girly, I think!
The Card Concept #30 "Thinking of you"
ETA: This card was a Fab Five at the Retro Rubber Challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,
Susanne

More sympathy cards for Hero Arts "Nature"
Here are two more cards using this Hero Arts stamp (sorry don't know the name or number and can't find it anywhere online) I inked up the other day. Yes, they are also sympathy cards because I was running low and a friend of mine often asks for sympathy cards.
Stamps: Hero Arts (flower frame, grass and dragonfly in border and sentiment), Stampin' Up (flower in border)
On this one I tried the rock 'n' roll technique with two different chalk inks.
Stamps: Hero Arts (flower frame and sentiment)
Die: PTI (linen impression plate)
Here I used an old Stampin' Up ink pad (Brocade Blue) and spritzed it with water. The color separated a bit adding interest.
Challenge:
Hero Arts "Nature"
Wishing you a wonderful week!

Susanne

Hero Arts "Nature" / SSS Wednesday "Anything Goes" / SSS Monday Challenge "Hint of Clover"
I wanted to play at Hero Arts "Nature" Challenge (runs until March 20th) and when I looked through my HA stamps I found one that I don't remember ever using. I started playing around with different inks and ended up with 6 images:
I made 5 cards. Today I am going to show you three of them so that the post doesn't get to long.
This one I inked with an old Color Box Chalk Ink "Lavender", mounted on a pale lavender card. I stamped a border on the bottom with a mix of Hero Arts and Stampin' Up stamps with the same ink, but stamped off. Finished with a Hero Arts sentiment and a silver dragonfly brad.
On this one I used the Distressed Ink "Peeled Paint" not spritzed with water. Because it was so stark on the white I sponged over it to make it look softer. Dragonfly brad in copper, same sentiment, foam mounted on cream panel that was embossed with PTI's Linen embossing plate that is so perfect when you want just a hint of embossing. The green cardstock is stamped with Hero Arts envelope pattern.
Three different DI (Faded Jeans, Broken China, Peeled Paint), spritzed with water. Copper dragonfly brad, Hero Arts sentiment, mounted on blue panel with PTI Linen embossing plate on green card.
Challenges:
Hero Art "Nature"
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes"
Simon Says Monday Challenge "Hint of Clover"
Thanks for looking! Will be back soon with the other two cards!
Hugs,
Susanne
